  1. How do I change the hostid of a Sun E280R running Solaris 10 ?

My old test server has finally died and I want to stand up the E280R as a new test server. I need to test upgrading various applications on it before upgrading the live server.

I cannot use the new servers original hostid as the applications are hostid locked and you cannot buy these old versions anyway !

So I figure that if I can use the old servers hostid on the new server, I can install the old version apps, test the upgrade of the apps out. Then when the live server is upgraded to the same new version, return the new test server to it’s correct hostid.

No license fraud in the making here, the old server is in the bin and cannot come back !

    Thanks in advance.

  2. Unless I missed it ! Sorry no, I have Sol10. I can get the O/S onto the test server fine, I “just” :O) need to change the hositd of the new test server to that of the dead one so that I can load the old releases of the apps that I have. This is to produce an exact status of the live server on the new test server, so that I can uprade the release of the apps on the test server.
